Contamination Prevention 101: How Spine Solutions Safely Treats Patients

Contamination Prevention

We at Spine Solutions, South Florida’s leader in minimally invasive spine surgery and back pain treatment, have always kept safety at the forefront of our practice. Patients and staff members have valued our keen attention to health and safety, especially when contamination prevention is now a household topic. Our expert team exercises a strict safety protocol which proves to maintain a sterile medical environment.

Spine Solutions is committed to contamination prevention by following Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommended personal, patient, and surgical safety procedures every day. To prevent any risk to our patients or staff, we are sharing how we safety examine and treat patients at each of our Spine Solutions locations.

Personal Safety

The safety of our practice starts with personal care. Face masks are required to be worn by staff members and patients at all times. Each Spine Solutions staff member washes his or her hands constantly. That way, our staff can do their part to help stop microbial spread. Patients are welcome to use our sinks and soaps to wash hands during their visits. Hand sanitizer is placed throughout each Spine Solutions office, including public waiting areas, examination rooms, private offices, and restrooms. Staff members and patients are expected to practice social distancing, or a minimum of six feet of distance, with non-essential personnel or other patients.

Patient Safety

At Spine Solutions, we maintain an extremely sterile environment to ensure the safety of all of our patients. Each examination room, public area, and restroom are sanitized using medical-grade, patient-safe disinfectants. Staff members are encouraged to schedule visits with patient comfort and office capacity in mind – meaning public waiting areas will not be crowded. We are doing everything in our power to make patient appointments as contactless as possible.

Thorough communication with the patient is an important component to operating a safe medical practice. Each patient will be prepped by a staff member before arrival with clear appointment or examination expectations. If a patient is educated on his or her upcoming visit or scheduled surgery, he or she is more likely to adhere to the directions established by the Spine Solutions staff. Spine Solutions encourages all questions a patient may have regarding their examination or surgical procedure.

Surgical Safety

As always, surgical procedures are conducted with the highest regard for safety, sanitation, and industry regulations. Standardized operational practices continue to be in place, ensuring staff and patient safety from start to finish. Only essential staff are allowed in the surgical area. Medical equipment is thoroughly sterilized after one use. Medical gowns, gloves, face masks, and other related materials are disposed as medical waste after one use.
